The Reverend Dr. Frances A. Reid, a native of Wilson, North Carolina, is the fourth offspring among ten siblings born to the late Bishop Millus and Nina Williams, Sr. With a matrimonial union lasting 25 years, Dr. Reid, as the fruit of this marriage, welcomed one daughter, Mrs. Kameaka Graves. Additionally, Ms. Linda Faye Foster is part of their familial constellation.
Educationally, Dr. Reid completed her elementary and secondary schooling within the Wilson, NC Public School System. Her academic journey includes the attainment of a Bachelor's Degree from North Carolina Wesleyan College, Rocky Mount, NC, a Master of Divinity Degree from the Hood Theological Seminary, Salisbury, NC, and a Doctoral Degree from Palmer Theological Seminary, Wynnewood, PA.
Embarking on her spiritual calling at age 21, Dr. Reid received ordination as an Elder in the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church. Her pastoral service encompasses leadership roles at various ministries, including Jackson Chapel AME Zion Church, Best Station, NC; Salisbury AME Zion Church, Faro, NC; St. Augustine AME Zion Church, Bridgeton, NJ; Clinton Memorial AME Zion Church, Newark, NJ; and Leak Temple AME Zion Church, Anchorage, AK.
A historic milestone in May 1998 saw Dr. Reid's appointment to the venerable Clinton Memorial AME Zion Church, Newark, NJ, marking her as the inaugural female within her denomination appointed to a prominent pulpit. Subsequently, in August 2009, she assumed pastoral duties at Leake Temple AME Zion Church, Anchorage, AK, where she achieved the distinction of being both the first female appointed to this pulpit and the second pastor in the church's history, succeeding the late Reverend Dr. Theodore A. Moore, Founder.
March 2013 witnessed Dr. Reid's appointment to the Administrative Board of Appeals for Zion, representing the Western Episcopal District, of which the Alaska Conference is a constituent. Residing in Anchorage, AK, Dr. Reid was widowed after the passing of Bro. E. Marion Reid Jr. Dr. Reid actively engages in community ministry and participates in the Empowerment Temple AME Zion Church which she pastored for six years..
